Mulching consists of covering cultivated soil with a sheet, into which you can plant crops that are then protected from weed growth. It offers a number of benefits for anyone growing crops, including stopping weed growth, retaining moisture in the soil, protecting the soil during heavy rain, and helping with temperature control.
The PM-A 100 mulching attachment is equipped with springs which are connected to the wheels and swing arms of the rear plough shares. This allows the mulch layer to adjust to ground level variations.
As the machine drives forward, the two front ploughshares open furrows in the soil, the small wheels press the ends of the sheet spread on the field into the furrows, and the two rear ploughshares recover the soil moved by the front ones, covering the two ends of the sheet and keeping it anchored to the ground.
The working width is adjustable, from 80 to 100cm, according to the size of the reel used, and different material ground covers can be used. The unit can be fitted with 8 micron biodegradable, 30 micron plastic, or 110 gram paper rolls.
The mulching layer machine is also available in a fixed-chassis version which is slightly cheaper but does not float over uneven ground as well as the flex version.
